‘Nocturne’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This disc has all of the essential Mark Shreeve classics. Since Mark Shreeve last CD (Nocturne) on Virgin Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Nocturne.
Album opener Aftershock is a bright, upbeat ditty. Listening to Ride The Lightning you can hear that Mark Shreeve has still amazing chemistry with band members. Ultramarine is the funkiest number on the album. Aurora is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Out Of Time, Out Of Place is worth the money. After you’ve listened to Big Trouble, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Balles De Cosmique sets the tone for the entire album. Mark Shreeve rocks harder than ever with Hellchilde. Dynamo Eternal - My least favorite song on this album. From the moment you listen to Ceremony you’re hooked. This is probably my favorite song on the album. It’s such an underrated song. The sound in Summer Drift 69 is really warm and Mark Shreeve’s signature voice is still very much present. Nocturne - Check out that bassline!
