‘A River Runs Through It’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Self-described as Instrumental with lots of words, Mark Isham comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Since Mark Isham last CD (A River Runs Through It) on Mute Records back in 1992, I have felt a massive void in my life. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Mark Isham ever.
Casting Presbyterian Style is the song that really did it for me. Voice and instruments in A Land Filled With Wonder complement each other. Down The Alley (With You) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. A Summer Of Lumber And Fishing one is one of the better boring ones. I was truly moved when I heard Shooting The Chutes. Three Fisherman - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. I listened to the opening track A Four-Count Rythm and liked it a lot. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Strong, powerful vocals of Mark Isham in Bye Bye Blackbird are very impressive. Je Ne Sais Quois pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Swing Me High, Swing Me Low is perfect. Mark Isham sings A Place Remembered in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. So much energy, so exciting a sound.As always, Mark Isham’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Muskrat Ramble - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. I like the idea behind Rawhide. The Wild Ride is a strong cut, one of many. Early Departure marked the continuation of Mark Isham in style evolution. The Splendor In The Grass - Okay, I just talked about depth. Jessie And Norman is one of the more up-tempo songs on A River Runs Through It. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Mark Isham. Mark Isham rocks harder than ever with The High Road. Listening to Yes, Quite A Day you can hear that Mark Isham has still amazing chemistry with band members. Still going through A River Runs Through It and coming to appreciate A Fine Fisherman And The Big Blackfoot River more and more with every listen. I’ve found myself listening to The Moment That Could Not Last back to back and back many times. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Without Complete Understanding - For me, this is the best of the album. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in A River Runs Through It. Haunted By Waters-A River Runs Through It (Reprise) on A River Runs Through It is solid and easy to listen to.
