Since Mario Schonwalder and Bas Broekhuis last CD (Spherical Bodies) on Blue Note Records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. Lead single “Spherical Bodies” and “Remember The Old Sequence” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It has been seven years Mario Schonwalder and Bas Broekhuis’ last studio CD, “Spherical Bodies” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Spherical Bodies and Remember The Old Sequence is really good.
Simple and heartfelt closing track Remember The Old Sequence closes Spherical Bodies on a high note. De Drakenberg is the astounding blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Analoog En Digital is one of the more up-tempo songs on Spherical Bodies. Voice and instruments in A Classical Event complement each other. Remember The Old Sequence [Radio Mix] is a bit different from Mario Schonwalder and Bas Broekhuis stereotypical stuff. Meet The Fear is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. In Korean Poems [Live] it becomes nowhere more obvious that Mario Schonwalder and Bas Broekhuis has yet to define own style.
