After seeing Gumppet Holvot (The Wolves Howl), I had to have a good Mari Boine Persen cd. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Mari Boine Persen energies, virtually a rebirth. It has been thirteen years Mari Boine Persen’ last studio CD, “Leahkastin (Unfolding)” which won Array Emmy� Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Leahkastin (Unfolding) is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
I find myself hearing bits of Ale Sat (No More) here and there throughout my waking hours. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Leahkastin (Unfolding). Ahccai (To My Father) - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Mielahisvuohta (Lunacy Lunacy) is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Gilvve Gollat (Sow Your Gold) is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. Gulan Du (Hearing You) - I just love it. This song stands out greatly from the others. Mun Da’han Lean Oaiv Amus (Just When I Had…) as a highlight of Leahkastin (Unfolding) contains a ton of gorgeous melodies. I think Da Lean Mun (Here I Am) is the best song Mari Boine Persen has ever done.
