Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Mantronix on ‘Bassline (Stretched)’. Since completing 1990’s ‘Bassline (Stretched)’, Mantronix fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Mantronix’s album The best of (1986-1988) falls to No. 2 with 289,000, a sales slide of 84%. The best of (1986-1988) is the best essence of Mantronix.
This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Ladies (Full length) is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Ladies (Revived) - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Get The best of (1986-1988) and turn on Listen To The Bass Of Get Stupid Part II if you are going to sip your wine late at night. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Such hits like Needle To The Groove will leave you hooked. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on The best of (1986-1988). In Sing A Song (Break It Down) it becomes nowhere more obvious that Mantronix has yet to define own style. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Who Is It? (Club Mix) because the melody in the chorus is so good.
