Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Madredeus on ‘Concertino’. Madredeus’s debut, ‘O Espirito Da Pas’, does not fit easily into one genre. This album has some very good songs like Concertino and Minuete. Another great offering from Madredeus.
Minuete - Madredeus first major hit. Music and lyrics of Allegro creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Destino is my favorite song on O Espirito Da Pas. Vocals of Madredeus in Sileneio really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. After few listenings I started to like Pregao more and more. O Mar is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Madredeus sings Os Moinhos in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Tres Ilusoes catches attention immediately, Sentimento is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. I hope to keep hearing Madredeus works for a long time to come. The song Amargura ending is my favorite… so catchy! As Cores Do Sol is one of the best records ever. Ao Longe O Mar has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. This song may be the most meaningful.
