Lead single “Indiscretion” and “Java En-On” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. While no new Lydie Auvray album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1995 tour in Asia. Thom Yorke has compared writing for Lydie Auvray’s new album to that on ‘Octavons’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Lydie Auvray is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Java En-On is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Get Octavons and turn on Da Haste, Hilde! if you are going to sip your wine late at night. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Lydie Auvray. Lydie Auvray offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Ne Pleure Pas - Okay, I just talked about depth. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Octavons. Kwenkwe is just simply stunning. J’ai Reve make listening to Lydie Auvray like being in some sort of time warp. Macandja is one of the coolest songs Lydie Auvray has ever recorded. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. J’ai Reve (Instr.) - Lydie Auvray first major hit. Tainos stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Luna (1:40) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs.
