After seeing People In Love, I had to have a good Loudon Wainwright III cd. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Loudon Wainwright III on ‘People In Love’. On History album, Loudon Wainwright III have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Loudon Wainwright III is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Men is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Such hits like The Picture will leave you hooked. I like the agression and power of When I’m At Your House. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in History. Hitting You is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Loudon Wainwright III ever produced. I believe I’d Rather Be Lonely is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. Album opener Between is a bright, upbeat ditty. Talking New Bob Dylan have really caught my ear and imagination. So Many Songs make listening to Loudon Wainwright III like being in some sort of time warp. 4 X 10 is gorgeous and different song. Loudon Wainwright III is hitting on all cylinders in A Father And A Son. Sometimes I Forget - A classic Loudon Wainwright III track. A Handful Of Dust is the funkiest number on the album.
