Since Los Tigres del Norte last CD (La Garra de…) on Capitol Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. Now signed to Los Tigres del Norte’s Capitol Records, the title track from second album “La Garra de…” leads Los Tigres del Norte’s back-to-school campaign. Since completing 1995’s ‘Pacas De A Kilo’, Los Tigres del Norte fulfilled their contract with Capitol Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
La Segunda Carta which is my favorite is a truly Los Tigres del Norte sounding song. Album opener El Maestro is a bright, upbeat ditty. Amigos Y Mujeres is the albums biggest surprise. La Oferta is absolutely incredible. Leopoldo Rios is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. El Pescadito Rojo is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. I loved Tumba Falsa the first time I heard it. Manos Unidas has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Los Tigres del Norte has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Carino Donde Andaras is such a cool and optimistic song that things can get just better. I have all of Los Tigres del Norte’s tracks and El Canelo is probably the most his introspective effort. Within the first few notes of La Daga it’s perfectly clear that Los Tigres del Norte is living this song. Ya No Hagas Mas Sacrificios gets you up and jumping.
