When you buy a Ken Hensley album, you know exactly what you’re getting! It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Ken Hensley energies, virtually a rebirth. Since completing 1994’s ‘Inspiration’, Ken Hensley fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Outside of the singles, my favorite song on From Time to Time is I Don’t Wanna Wait. There Comes a Time - This one is lively and fun. Love at First Sight is one of the coolest songs Ken Hensley has ever recorded. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. The Name of the Game is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. This track is clearly meant to showcase Ken Hensley’s vocal abilities. Who Will Sing for You is a strong cut, one of many. Maybe You Can Tell Me as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. I came to like Free Spirit. Ken Hensley must have run out of lyrics on the next track Cold Autumn Sunday. Longer Shadows without a doubt is the standout song of From Time to Time. Black Hearted Lady rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Album opener Take Care is a bright, upbeat ditty. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. In If I Had the Time the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation.
