Lead single “Um Mani Padme Hum” and “Molom Theme Song 1″ start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Self-described as Ethnic with lots of words, John McLaughlin comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. three years ago, John McLaughlin briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Molom Theme Song 1″. If I may, I suggest “Um Mani Padme Hum”. That one song is amazing!
Molom Theme Song 1 is pretty funky and mellow. The Boy’s Theme 1 is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Once you hear Breakfast The Cave, you will listen to it over and over. The Four Seasons is one of the more up-tempo songs on Molom. Horses - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Boudamchou - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Nice and different song. The sound in Cows In The Water is really warm and John McLaughlin’s signature voice is still very much present. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. The Camel Walk - For me, this is the best of the album. Hunting The Witch - Okay, I just talked about depth. The Boy Walks is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Simple and heartfelt closing track Melody closes Molom on a high note. The Dream Of The Boy is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. I like The Boy Cries because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of John McLaughlin. In Introducing The Boy To The Monk the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. The Boy Leaves is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. It’s such an underrated song. Molom Theme Song End is a song to enjoy for years to come.
