Since John Hammond last CD (John Hammond Live) on Virgin Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by John Hammond. John Hammond had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. John Hammond Live is the best essence of John Hammond.
A fantastic track full of wonder. Cat Man Blues is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Custard Pie is a strong cut, one of many. If you are a John Hammond fan, you will love One Kind Favor. You have to get essence of the I Can’t Be Satisfied’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Dust My Broom - arguably the best track on John Hammond Live album. John Hammond sings Low Down Dog in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Shake For Me is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Drop Down Mama has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Texas Tornado is pretty funky and mellow. This track is full of harmonies and gets John Hammond Live off to a relaxing start. Ain’t That Lovin’ You Baby is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Voice of John Hammond in Sail On is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Wang Dang Doodle as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Honeymoon Blues is a perfect sing-along. After you’ve listened to I’m Movin’ On, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate.
