Jimmy Thackery And The Drivers had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Since Jimmy Thackery And The Drivers last CD (Wild Night Out) on SixSteps records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. Lead single “Wild Night Out” and “You Upset Me Baby” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Wild Night Out is not something you should pass up.
You Upset Me Baby has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. The Stumble is the album’s biggest hit, I think. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Lyrics of Empty Arms Motel are precise and evocative. Edward’s Blues is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Trouble Man good vocals. Red House one is one of the better boring ones. One listen to the sheer beauty of I Don’t Live Today was all I needed.
