Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Jimmy Buffett’s new album to that on ‘Bars’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Now signed to Jimmy Buffett’s Blue Note Records, the title track from second album “Bars” leads Jimmy Buffett’s back-to-school campaign. Bars is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Such great and happy songs.
Cuban Crime of Passion - Jimmy Buffett first major hit. First Look sets the tone for the entire album. Jimmy Buffett allows each song to breathe and flourish. The Great Filling Station Ho.. is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Bars. The sound in Why Don’t We Get Drunk is really warm and Jimmy Buffett’s signature voice is still very much present. So much energy, so exciting a sound.I can’t stop playing Pencil Thin Moustache. Kick It In Second Wind is another strong production from Jimmy Buffett. Desperation Samba (Halloween…..) is a very catchy tune. When Salome Plays the Drums is pretty funky and mellow. In They Don’t Dance Like Carmen.. the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. In The Pascagoula Run it becomes nowhere more obvious that Jimmy Buffett has yet to define own style. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Domino College is the song that really did it for me. Fins is one of the more up-tempo songs on Bars. The Weather is Here, I Wish .. is one of the best records ever. Tampico Trauma is almost impossible to review.
