Since Jaroslaw Smietana last CD (Extra Cram) on SixSteps records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Jaroslaw Smietana has. Since completing 1994’s ‘The Blues’, Jaroslaw Smietana fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
Extra Cram couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Volunteered Slavery. God Bless The Child one is one of the better boring ones. If you are a Jaroslaw Smietana fan, you will love Body And Soul. Poinciana pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Line For Lyons is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. This track is full of harmonies and gets Extra Cram off to a relaxing start. When I Fall In Love as a highlight of Extra Cram contains a ton of cool melodies. The song Georgia On My Mind ending is my favorite… so catchy! Love Letters is the more seemingly obscure song on Extra Cram that bear up best to repeated listening. Excellent vocals and musical performances. In The Duke Jaroslaw Smietana is at his best.
