fourteen years ago, James Brown briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Kansas City”. IF YOU LIKE ALL James Brown’S SONG GO FOR IT! This is the first studio album from James Brown since bad diagnosis in 1990. Overall, I would highly recommend Messing with the Blues CD1 CD.
Kansas City is a excellent sing-along. Goin’ Home is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Have Mercy Baby is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Love Don’t Love Nobody actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on James Brown’s face. James Brown rocks harder than ever with Love Don’t Love Nobody (False Start). This track is just a stunning masterpiece. I like the agression and power of Everyday I Have the Blues. For You, My Love is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Waiting in Vain is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track James Brown ever produced. I Love You, Yes I Do - arguably the best track on Messing with the Blues CD1 album. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens is the song that really did it for me. Get Messing with the Blues CD1 and turn on Somebody Done Changed the Lock on My Door if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Caldonia gives taste of what makes James Brown special as a musician. Don’t Cry, Baby is outstanding work of James Brown. All of songs on Messing with the Blues CD1 and have something to say letting alone Like It Is, Like It Was (The Blues).
