Israel Kamakawiwo’ole had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Self-described as Folk with lots of words, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Israel Kamakawiwo’ole was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Israel Kamakawiwo’ole and Facing Future together. This is my first Israel Kamakawiwo’ole Album and i must say i am blown away.
The sound in Ka Huila Wai is really warm and Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s signature voice is still very much present. ‘Ama’ama can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Israel Kamakawiwo’ole is all about. Panini Pua Kea is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Take Me Home Country Road stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Kuhio Bay has a fun tempo. Facing Future couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Ka Pua U’i. Israel Kamakawiwo’ole allows each song to breathe and flourish. This is probably my favorite song on the album. La ‘Elima is a marvelous sing-along. I have all of Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s tracks and Pili Me Ka’u Manu is probably the most his introspective effort. The sound of Maui Hawaiian Sup’pa Man is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. It’s such an underrated song.
