Jim Jones has compared writing for Huun-Huur-Tu’s new album to that on ‘60 Horses In My Herd: Old Song’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Huun-Huur-Tu’s debut, ‘60 Horses In My Herd: Old Song’, does not fit easily into one genre. On 60 Horses In My Herd: Old Song album, Huun-Huur-Tu have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Enjoy the show.
Mezhegei on 60 Horses In My Herd: Old Song is solid and easy to listen to. Oske Cherde (Foreigh Land) is the song that really did it for me. Eshten Charlyyry Berge (It’s Hard To Be Parted From A Friend) has a fun tempo. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Huun-Huur-Tu allows each song to breathe and flourish. I came to like Kongurei. Fantasy On The Igil is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Bayan Dugai is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Only one song from 60 Horses In My Herd: Old Song named Kargyraa (Khovalyg Solo) really got me. Ching Soortukchulerining Yryzy (Song Of The Caravan Drivers) is a very catchy tune.
