When you buy a Howlin’ Wolf album, you know exactly what you’re getting! The Chess Box CD2 isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Smokestack Lightning is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. You Can’t Be Beat - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Howlin’ Wolf Talks #3 - A strong beat. Get The Chess Box CD2 and turn on I Asked For Water (She Gave Me Gasoline) if you are going to sip your wine late at night. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Who’s Been Talkin’?. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. In I Didn’t Know Howlin’ Wolf spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Howlin’ Wolf sings his heart out in Moanin’ For My Baby. Change My Way - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. I Better Go Now is perfect. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in The Chess Box CD2. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. There is gorgeous mix of music in Wang Dang Doodle. Back Door Man has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Howlin’ Wolf’s strong vocals come to the fore. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Spoonful is one of my favorite songs by Howlin’ Wolf. A unique and uplifting song. Shake For Me - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Opening track The Red Rooster shows the best of Howlin’ Wolf. You’ll Be Mine (2:28) a good melody. Just Like I Treat You makes a person feel gorgeous. I Ain’t Superstitious is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Goin’ Down Slow was the first single release from the album The Chess Box CD2. Tail Dragger (2:57) - awsome.
