After debuting at No. 1 last week, Gothic - Various Artists’s album Jekura - Deep The Eternal Forest (Compilation) falls to No. 2 with 378,000, a sales slide of 70%. Gothic - Various Artists had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Gothic - Various Artists on ‘Introduction - The Termite People (White Onyx Elephants)’. This album is awesome.
Smurf In The Gulag (Clair Obscur) (4:35) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Ecoterrorist (Gut Mix) (Six Comm). After few listenings I started to like Dialogo Su Falsi Pentimenti (Remix) (Ordo Equitum Solis) more and more. This track is full of harmonies and gets Jekura - Deep The Eternal Forest (Compilation) off to a relaxing start. Tabor C’alan O’itana (Sopor Aeternus) - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. The sound in Venus (Jack Or Jive) is really warm and Gothic - Various Artists’s signature voice is still very much present. Psychoplastic Experience (N.L.C.) is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Although Cantata Sacra (The Raij) is very melodic it is far from sad. I think Crossing On The Green Shadow’s Land (Leitmotiv) is the best song Gothic - Various Artists has ever done. Santonin’s Kiss (Requiem In White) is pretty funky and mellow. Dio Narap (Sopor Aeternus) gives taste of what makes Gothic - Various Artists special as a musician. Josephine (Die Bunker) is the albums biggest surprise. After you’ve listened to Deep The Eternal Forest (White Onyx Elephants), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate.
