This is one of the best Cd’s Gordon Duncan has dropped to date. While no new Gordon Duncan album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1994 tour in Australia. This fourteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Gordon Duncan has. Exciting stuff.
Brig O’ Perth-Strathspey - Rusty Gun - Gordon Duncan first major hit. I like the agression and power of Duchess Of Edinburgh-March - Lonach. In Moonlight On The Heather-Jig - The Millstead Gordon Duncan spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Showacho - Bu Deonach Leam Tilleach is astounding. In Loch Broom Bay full palet of sound is used by Gordon Duncan to accentuate the presentation. Nora Crionna is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Ewe’ Wi’ The Crookit Horn can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Gordon Duncan is all about. Album opener Donal Og is a bright, upbeat ditty. Calleach An Dudain is possibly the best song Gordon Duncan has come up. The Last Tango In Harris one is one of the better boring ones. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right.
