Since Golden Earring last CD (The Naked Truth) on Virgin Records back in 1992, I have felt a massive void in my life. Lead single “Introduction” and “Jangalene” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Since completing 1992’s ‘Introduction’, Golden Earring fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. The Naked Truth constantly brilliant.
Jangalene is one of these floating songs. Music of Another 45 Miles is gentle, never overbearing. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Mad Love’s Comin’ is my favorite song on The Naked Truth. The sound in Why I Do is really warm and Golden Earring’s signature voice is still very much present. I Can’t Sleep Without You - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Weekend Love has a fun tempo. Vanilla Queen has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Golden Earring’s strong vocals come to the fore. Twilight Zone is one of my favorite songs by Golden Earring. Golden Earring rocks harder than ever with One Shot Away From Paradise. Long Blond Animal as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. I like to sing along with Pouring My Heart Out Again, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Album opener Radar Love is a bright, upbeat ditty. So much energy, so exciting a sound. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy.
