Since Ginger Baker last CD (Going Back Home) on SixSteps records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. After seeing Rambler, I had to have a good Ginger Baker cd. Ginger Baker’s debut, ‘Going Back Home’, does not fit easily into one genre. Ginger Baker is one of my favourite bands of all time.
In I Lu Kron the music gets its power. Listening to Straight No Chaser you can hear that Ginger Baker has still amazing chemistry with band members. Ramblin’ is a bit of a show-tune. Ginger Blues - My least favorite song on this album. Ain Temouchant is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. In When We Go Ginger Baker is at his best. In The Moment is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Spiritual is the funkiest number on the album. Ginger Baker must have run out of lyrics on the next track East Timor.
