sixteen years ago, Gilbert O’Sullivan briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Not That It Bothers Me”. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Gilbert O’Sullivan energies, virtually a rebirth. There is so much to love about Gilbert O’Sullivan, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Another great offering from Gilbert O’Sullivan.
Listening to Not That It Bothers Me you can hear that Gilbert O’Sullivan has still amazing chemistry with band members. Sometimes is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. It’s Easy To See When You’re B - A classic Gilbert O’Sullivan track. Having Said That gives good insight into the truths. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. The Best Love I Never Had - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Divorce Irish Style makes a person feel exquisite. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Came And Went from the beginning to the end. I’m Not Too Young is the albums biggest surprise. Only one song from Sounds Of The Loop named I Can Give You really got me. Can’t Think Straight (Japanese Version) is another favourite of mine.
