Gilbert O’Sullivan’s debut, ‘Live In Japan’, does not fit easily into one genre. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Gilbert O’Sullivan energies, virtually a rebirth. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Gilbert O’Sullivan. Live In Japan touched my soul like nothing else.
Came To See Me Yesterday is a striking and quite long song. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. I Wish I Could Cry is gorgeous and different song. Now Matter How I Try has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Gilbert O’Sullivan’s strong vocals come to the fore. We Will - My least favorite song on this album. Miss My Love Today - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Clair is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Some call Dear Dream from Live In Japan as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Hold On To What You Got without a doubt is the standout song of Live In Japan. Matrimony is another strong production from Gilbert O’Sullivan. Can’t Get Enough Of You is the more seemingly obscure song on Live In Japan that bear up best to repeated listening. Not That It Bothers Me is the albums biggest surprise. It’s Easy To See When You’re Blind - another great track from the Live In Japan album. Tomorrow Today is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Live In Japan. In What’s In A Kiss full palet of sound is used by Gilbert O’Sullivan to accentuate the presentation. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. I can’t stop humming along Get Down. Alone Again is perfect. I listened to the opening track Where Peaceful Waters Flows and liked it a lot.
