This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Gilbert O’Sullivan. This disc has all of the essential Gilbert O’Sullivan classics. On Every Song Has It’s Play album, Gilbert O’Sullivan have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Every Song Has It’s Play constantly brilliant.
Gilbert O’Sullivan emotions are reflected through Showbiz (With Nicky Henson). Dear Dream is a medium tempo tune. Some of the arrangements found on Every Song Has It’s Play are surprisingly edgy. Nothing To Fear (With Mike Dore) is probably one of Gilbert O’Sullivan’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. This track is a great song that still never gets old. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Can’t Find My Way Home. When I listen to Disbonourable Profession in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Every Song Has It’s Play. Young At Heart is really a nice song to relax and listen too. I’ve Never Been Short Of A Smile is the albums biggest surprise. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Showbiz (Reprise), which shows, blatantly, how much Gilbert O’Sullivan has evolved as a singer. If You Commence Before The Start is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track.
