George Dalaras’s debut, ‘Tragoudia Apo Tis 45 Strofes’, does not fit easily into one genre. There is so much to love about George Dalaras, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. On Tragoudia Apo Tis 45 Strofes album, George Dalaras have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This is what good Folk should be.
Tromagmeno Peristeri is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Ta Vasana Den Legontai is a strong cut, one of many. Aurio Proi - This one is lively and fun. Ta Melitzania Ta Matia actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on George Dalaras’s face. There is exquisite mix of music in Ta Dyo Feggaria. Stin Epoxi Tou Pagkalou is another favourite of mine. To Ftoxo Mou To Xagiati - Check out that bassline! Pligomeno Mou Spourgiti is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Lathos Megalo Kaneis as a highlight of Tragoudia Apo Tis 45 Strofes contains a ton of astounding melodies. Tou Kastrou To Roloi is the excellent blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. A great put together song. Nice and different song. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Zise Monaxa To Simera the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Album opener Kai I Zoi Sinexizetai is a bright, upbeat ditty. Pos Perasane Ta Xronia marked the continuation of George Dalaras in style evolution. Prosmoni without a doubt is the standout song of Tragoudia Apo Tis 45 Strofes. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Tragoudia Apo Tis 45 Strofes. Blew our minds when we first heard Rodakinia Ksanthi. Poso Poli S Agapisa is one of my favorite songs by George Dalaras. Musically Ki An Klapsoume Ti Ofelei is superior to other tracks in Tragoudia Apo Tis 45 Strofes. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Epilogos is the song that really did it for me.
