George Dalaras’s debut, ‘Metropole Orchestra Tribute To Mikis Theodorakis’, does not fit easily into one genre. IF YOU LIKE ALL George Dalaras’S SONG GO FOR IT! It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of George Dalaras energies, virtually a rebirth. Metropole Orchestra Tribute To Mikis Theodorakis is the best essence of George Dalaras.
No George Dalaras song has come close to capturing my attention as Beautiful City did. Bleeding Moon, Arodafnoussa, Green Golden Leaf is pretty funky and mellow. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Metropole Orchestra Tribute To Mikis Theodorakis is Alone In The Apartment, Old Streets. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Beloyannis, which shows, blatantly, how much George Dalaras has evolved as a singer. Andonis, The Smiling Child is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Voice and instruments in Libertadores 1, Libertadores 2, America Insurrecta complement each other. You have to get essence of the Zorba’s Dance’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor.
