eleven years ago, George Dalaras briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Omorfh Polh”. While no new George Dalaras album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1995 tour in South America. Since completing 1995’s ‘O Xoros Ton Xartaetwn’, George Dalaras fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is what good Folk should be.
When I listen to Omorfh Polh in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Although Matwmeno Feggari, Arodafnousa, Xrusoprasino Fullo is very melodic it is far from sad. I have all of George Dalaras’s tracks and Asteri Mou Feggari Mou is probably the most his introspective effort. George Dalaras emotions are reflected through Vrexei Sth Ftwxogeitonia. Monos Sto Diamerisma, Dromoi Palioi one of the best in my collection. O Mpelogiannhs is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Antwnhs, To Gelasto Paidi have really caught my ear and imagination. Los Libertadores, America Insurrecta is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. I now have O Xoros Tou Zormpa as one of my personal favorites. Still going through Afierwma Sto M. Theodwrakh and coming to appreciate Kahmos more and more with every listen.
