This twelve-song debut EP shows the promise that Freiburger Spielleyt has. Lead single “Prologo” and “Virgen Santa Maria” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Since Freiburger Spielleyt last CD (Tales Of Miracles - Cantigas De Santa Mar) on Sparrow Records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. One of Freiburger Spielleyt’s best albums yet.
It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Song O Que En Santa Maria is actually a funny song. I have all of Freiburger Spielleyt’s tracks and Tanto Quer Santa Maria is probably the most his introspective effort. Nenbressete- Madre De Deus is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. O Nome Da Virgen Santa is absolutely incredible. Ben Per Esta is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Excellent vocals and musical performances. A Que Faz O Ome Morto is exquisite and different song. The song Santa Maria Grandez Faz Miragres ending is my favorite… so catchy! Quen A Omagen Da Virgen - Okay, I just talked about depth.
