There is so much to love about Freddie King, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Freddie King on ‘Same Old Blues’. There were many famous songs of Freddie King available. IT makes me wanna dance!
The sound in Dust My Broom is really warm and Freddie King’s signature voice is still very much present. Worried Life Blues is a good listen every once in a while. Five Long Years - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Key To The Highway is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Going Down is possibly the best song Freddie King has come up. Living On The Highway is beautiful, yet underrated track. This track is full of harmonies and gets King Of The Blues off to a relaxing start. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Palace Of The King can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Freddie King is all about. Lowdown In Lodi is one of the best records ever. Reconsider Baby is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Big Legged Woman is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Me and My Guitar is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. I D Rather Be Blind is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. How Many More Years is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. The first time I listened to Ain T No Sunshine I was struck by its astounding sound. I like to sing along with The Sky Is Crying, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Simple and heartfelt closing track That S All Right closes King Of The Blues on a high note. Woman Across The River is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. From the moment you listen to Hoochie Coochie Man you’re hooked. Danger Zone - Check out that bassline! Boogie Man - another great track from the King Of The Blues album. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Just A Little Bit is the albums biggest surprise. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Help Me Through The Day presents the perfect mix of instruments on King Of The Blues. I M Ready - My least favorite song on this album. Music of Trouble In Mind is gentle, never overbearing. I came to like You Don T Have To Go. After about the third Please Send Me Someone To Love listen through, I began to believe this song is Freddie King’s essence. Gimme Some Lovin is simple, dignified and effective, Freddie King refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Love Her With A Feeling. Boogie Fuck - A classic Freddie King track. It Hurts Me Too - This one is lively and fun. Something You Got without a doubt is the standout song of King Of The Blues. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Ain T No Big Deal On You, which shows, blatantly, how much Freddie King has evolved as a singer. I Just Want To Make Love To You is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. The opening track Hide Away is very much like you would expect from other albums.
