Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Fred Hersch on ‘I Have Dreamed’. Since Fred Hersch last CD (Sarabande) on ForeFront Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. While no new Fred Hersch album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1995 tour in Africa. Another great offering from Fred Hersch.
From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Fred Hersch is one of artists that allow his songs like The Peacocks to stand on their own and be heard. In What Is This Thing Called Love? full palet of sound is used by Fred Hersch to accentuate the presentation. Sarabande is one of the best records ever. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Sarabande. I listened to the opening track Child’s Song and liked it a lot. Blue In Green is simply perfect. Cadences make listening to Fred Hersch like being in some sort of time warp.
