This -song debut EP shows the promise that Francis Lai has. Since Francis Lai last CD (Ripoux Contre Ripoux) on Virgin Records back in 1990, I have felt a massive void in my life. Ripoux Contre Ripoux isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is GJnJrique Fin
GJnJrique Fin is the funkiest number on the album. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Ripoux Contre Ripoux. Ripoux Blues is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Overall a nice softer song. Only one song from Ripoux Contre Ripoux named Generique Fin really got me. As always, Francis Lai’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. CJsarini Et Les Ripoux - I just love it. This track is clearly meant to showcase Francis Lai’s vocal abilities. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Les Nouveaux Ripoux is marvelous song though, very addictive. If you are a Francis Lai fan, you will love Le ThNme De RenJ. L’interrogatoire - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. A great put together song. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. DJsillusion is simply excellent. Within the first few notes of Le Theme De Rene it’s perfectly clear that Francis Lai is living this song. I find myself hearing bits of A La Recherche De FranNois here and there throughout my waking hours. Rene Se Met Au Vert is one of the best records ever. RenJ Au Resto - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Desillusion is such a marvelous and optimistic song that things can get just better. RenJ Se Met Au Vert is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction.
