On Next Generation 1992 album, Folk - Various Artists have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. six years ago, Folk - Various Artists briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Breisleach (Caprcaillie)”. Ivan Grach has compared writing for Folk - Various Artists’s new album to that on ‘Next Generation 1992′ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
Breisleach (Caprcaillie) is the funkiest number on the album. With A Love That’s True (Vinnie Kilduff) is a bit of a show-tune. Maire Bhan (Eithne Ni Uallachain) is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. I now have Bean An Tinceara , Bobby Casey’s (Kevin Glackin and Ronan Browne) as one of my personal favorites. Folk - Various Artists breathes new life into the music in Devaney’s Goat, Dr. Gilbert , Richard Dwyer’s Reel (Gerry O’connor). This track is full of harmonies and gets Next Generation 1992 off to a relaxing start. Music and lyrics of Eirigh Suas A Stoirin (Eithne Ni Uallachain) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. The Sailor’s Farewell , The Cape Breton Fiddlers (Vinnie Kilduff) marked the continuation of Folk - Various Artists in style evolution. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Paddy’s Rambles Through The Fields (Kevin Glackin and Ronan Browne) from the beginning to the end. Lyrics of Fisher’s Homepipe , Cronin’s Hornpipe (Gerry O’connor) are precise and evocative. Lough Erne Shore (Eithne Ni Uallachain) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Next Generation 1992 have ended. Andes (Llama; Vinnie Kilduff) very upbeat. When listening to Caberfeidh (Caprcaillie, Shanbally Castle), it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Nil Aon Airgead Agam (Ronan Brown, Seamus Ennis’ Reels) is absolutely incredible. Maid Of Mullach (Kevin Glackin and Ronan Browne Jacksons) defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone.
