Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Emmylou Harris on ‘Guitar Town’. five years ago, Emmylou Harris briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Half As Much”. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Emmylou Harris has. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
In Half As Much full palet of sound is used by Emmylou Harris to accentuate the presentation. Voice and instruments in Cattle Call complement each other. I find myself hearing bits of Guess Things Happen That Way here and there throughout my waking hours. Hard Times is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Mansion On The Hill as a highlight of At the Ryman contains a ton of gorgeous melodies. Scotland - I just love it. Montana Cowgirl - This is a very lively song. Like Strangers gets you up and jumping. Lodi is possibly the best song Emmylou Harris has come up. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. If I Could Be There is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Put Walls Of Time into car stereo for your highway driving Emmylou Harris breathes new life into the music in Get Up John. It’s A Hard Life Wherever You Go/Abraham Martin And John is the album’s biggest hit, I think. The sound of Smoke Along The Track is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created.
