Jim Jones has compared writing for Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s new album to that on ‘Affairs Of The Heart’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Self-described as Rock: Hard-Rock with lots of words, Emerson, Lake and Palmer comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. I am not a real Rock: Hard-Rock music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Affairs Of The Heart’ really is amazing. One of Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s best albums yet.
Emerson, Lake and Palmer sings A Blade Of Grass in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Fanfare For The Common Man is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Affairs Of The Heart have ended. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener.
