When you buy a Electronic - Various Artists album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Since Electronic - Various Artists last CD (Yello - (1995) Hands On Yello) on Mute Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. It’s natural for Electronic - Various Artists to take a stab at ‘Cosmic Baby (Dr. Van Steiner)’ considering her long-professed love for B.B. King. Yello - (1995) Hands On Yello touched my soul like nothing else.
What sets Westbam (Bostich) apart is Electronic - Various Artists’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Jen (Ciel Ouvert) is the excellent blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Opening track Great Mission - Jam and Spoon (You Gotta Say Yes To Another Excess) shows the best of Electronic - Various Artists. I loved Oliver Lieb (Crash Dance) the first time I heard it. It took me a little time but I ended up loving The Grid (Vicious Games). Plutones (Oh Yeah) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. I think Hardsequencer (I Love You) is the best song Electronic - Various Artists has ever done. Carl Cox (L’hotel) - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Carl Craig (La Habanera) is a gorgeous sing-along. Yello - (1995) Hands On Yello couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track The Orb (Excess). Moby (Lost Again) rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
