On the Holland charts, superstar Duke Ellington’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. The Millenium Anthology (CD 1) carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Duke Ellington on ‘Black and Tan Fantasy’. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
Duke Ellington breathes new life into the music in Creole Love Call. East St. Louis Toodle-Oo is simple, dignified and effective, Duke Ellington refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. The Mooche is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Saturday Night Function has a fun tempo. What sets Cotton Club Stomp apart is Duke Ellington’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Mood Indigo - This one is lively and fun. The song Rockin’in Rhythm ending is my favorite… so catchy! Echoes Of The Jungle one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. Some call Delta Serenade from The Millenium Anthology (CD 1) as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen.
