David Torn had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of David Torn on ‘Pasha’. On Tripping Over God album, David Torn have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Seven Door #3
There is astounding mix of music in Seven Door #3. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Strong, powerful vocals of David Torn in Trip Over God are very impressive. Dr. 8, The Bird You Sang is probably the highlight of the album. Music and lyrics of Acosay Phodei Mojo creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Bust My Ass For Thinking actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on David Torn’s face. Shofar is simple, dignified and effective, David Torn refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. How Could I as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. What Was Once… is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Thought Of Many Georges is a very catchy tune. When I listen to And Well I Found No Bottom in my car when traffic ain’t going so good.
