Now signed to Current 93’s Capitol Records, the title track from second album “Of Ruine Or Some Blazing Sta..” leads Current 93’s back-to-school campaign. After seeing Dormition And Dominion, I had to have a good Current 93 cd. On Of Ruine Or Some Blazing Sta.. album, Current 93 have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Dormition And Dominion and Into The Menstrual Night I Go is really good.
Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Of Ruine Or Some Blazing Sta.. is Into The Menstrual Night I Go. The Cloud Of Unknowing is absolutely incredible. I like Let Us Go To The Rose because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. I loved All the World Makes Great Blood the first time I heard it. I find myself hearing bits of The Great, Bloody and Bruised Veil of the World here and there throughout my waking hours. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. So: This Empire Is Nothing is a fine track on any terms. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. In Into The Bloody Hole I Go the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Moonlight, You Will Say is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. The Teeth of the Winds of the Sea is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Steven and I in the Field of Stars is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Current 93 released so far. A Voice From Catland is a amazing, simple song by Current 93 at the top of his game.
