Pale Sun Crescent Moon carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Since completing 1993’s ‘Anniversary Song’, Cowboy Junkies fulfilled their contract with Sparrow Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Self-described as Blues with lots of words, Cowboy Junkies comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. I wish that “Pale Sun Crescent Moon” album was instrumental.
Cold Tea Blues is the song that really did it for me. In Crescent Moon the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. I hope to keep hearing Cowboy Junkies works for a long time to come. Cowboy Junkies allows each song to breathe and flourish. Hard To Explain is Cowboy Junkies’s best work in years. Hunted - another great track from the Pale Sun Crescent Moon album. Get Pale Sun Crescent Moon and turn on Pale Sun if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Ring On The Sill (4:23) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Seven Years - A catchy, upbeat tune. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Once you hear White Sail, you will listen to it over and over. Crescent Moon is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. The song feels complete. Ring On The Sill is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Anniversary Song is simply amazing. White Sail motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Blew our minds when we first heard Seven Years. In Pale Sun Cowboy Junkies is at his best. All of songs on Pale Sun Crescent Moon and have something to say letting alone The Post. Cold Tea Blues is one of the more up-tempo songs on Pale Sun Crescent Moon. It’s such an underrated song. Hunted - This one is lively and fun. In Floorboard Blues it becomes nowhere more obvious that Cowboy Junkies has yet to define own style.
