Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Conrad Schnitzler on ‘Buckled Wheel’. It’s natural for Conrad Schnitzler to take a stab at ‘Buckled Wheel’ considering her long-professed love for UB40. Self-described as Electronic with lots of words, Conrad Schnitzler comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Control Live is the best essence of Conrad Schnitzler.
In Thick Informal Smears it becomes nowhere more obvious that Conrad Schnitzler has yet to define own style. Some of the arrangements found on Control Live are surprisingly edgy. Stereo Blasting Cannon With Sparse Refractors - To me, this is the best song on the Control Live. So much energy, so exciting a sound.This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Spotlight Sprinkler With Whimsical Recurrence is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Rain Bouncing On A Propeller is a very catchy tune. Only one song from Control Live named Broken And Transposed Factory Alarm really got me. Processed Cheese Mouth Organ as a highlight of Control Live contains a ton of exquisite melodies. As always, Conrad Schnitzler’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Polychromatic Interplays is another favourite of mine. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Solar Light Reflections is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Clock-Chime Ballet is a fine track on any terms. Planet Revolution Pendulum is one of the best records ever. Glass Burial Mecanism is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Exploding Springs In Layers - A catchy, upbeat tune. Contrapuntal Interstellar Radars is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Ignited Crashing Meteors is a marvelous sing-along. Music and lyrics of Propellers In Contrary Motion creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. This song may be the most meaningful. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Conrad Schnitzler is hitting on all cylinders in Echoing Dramatic Cumulative Whirling Tension.
