There is no doubt that Cherish The Ladies has talent. Lead single “The Old Favorite/The Flogging Reel/Leave My Way/The Kerryman” and “Spoon River” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Cherish The Ladies. Overall, I would highly recommend Out and About CD.
Only one song from Out and About named Spoon River really got me. I believe The Ladies Of Carrick/The Kinnegad Slashers/Old Man Dillon is one of the most astounding, heartfelt songs ever written. Declan’s Waltz/Waltz Duhamel one of the best in my collection. The Cameronian Set: The M’Intinn Raoir/Duke Of Gordon/The Cameronian/Lady Of The House is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Inisheer is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. O’Keefe’s/The Sheperd’s Lamb/Johnny O’Leary’s is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Cherish The Ladies released so far. What sets Roisin Dubh (The Small Black Rose) apart is Cherish The Ladies’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Le Voyage De Camouret/House Of Hamill is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. The Cat Rambles To The Childs Saucepan/Maire O’Keefe/Harry Bradshaw’s is another favourite of mine. The Missing Piece motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. The Out And About Set: The Wandering Minstrel/Fred Rice’s Polkas/The Cabin Hunter/Out And About is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day.
