This album has some very good songs like You Don’t Know What Love Is and Come On In My Kitchen. Cassandra Wilson’s debut, ‘Blue Light ‘Til Dawn’, does not fit easily into one genre. three years ago, Cassandra Wilson briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Come On In My Kitchen”. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. This track is full of harmonies and gets Blue Light ‘Til Dawn off to a relaxing start. Children Of The Night is cool song though, very addictive. After you’ve listened to Hellhound On My Trail, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Cassandra Wilson rocks harder than ever with Black Crow. I like the idea behind Sankofa. Estrellas is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. I listened to the opening track Redbone and liked it a lot. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Opening track Blue Light ’til Dawn shows the best of Cassandra Wilson. Still going through Blue Light ‘Til Dawn and coming to appreciate I Can’t Stand The Rain more and more with every listen.
