It has been five years Capercaillie’ last studio CD, “Sidewaulk” which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. It’s natural for Capercaillie to take a stab at ‘Alasdair Mhic Cholla Ghasda’ considering her long-professed love for Armin Van Buuren. Self-described as Folk with lots of words, Capercaillie comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. If you love Capercaillie as much as I do, then Capercaillie Sidewaulk is the CD for you!
Balindore is a very catchy tune. Fisherman’s Dream - A nice song. Sidewaulk Reels is the first taste of the new album. When I listen to Iain Ghlinn’ Cuaich in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Fosgail An Dorus/Nighean Bhuaidh’ Ruadh is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Sidewaulk have ended. The Turnpike is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Both Sides The Tweed is amazing song though, very addictive. Capercaillie offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Oh Mo Dhuthaich is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot.
