It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Cannonball Adderley energies, virtually a rebirth. Since Cannonball Adderley last CD (Mercy, Mercy, Mercy!) on Mute Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Cannonball Adderley comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Great Jazz right here!
Games is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. I like to sing along with Mercy, Mercy, Mercy, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Sticks is probably the most interesting track on Mercy, Mercy, Mercy!. Hippodelphia is beautiful, yet underrated track. Sack O’ Woe is the albums biggest surprise.
