The Nashville Years, Vol. 4 carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. There were many famous songs of Burl Ives available. Since completing 1993’s ‘Lower Forty’, Burl Ives fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
Four Initials On A Tree is the funkiest number on the album. As always, Burl Ives’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Beautiful Annabel Lee is outstanding work of Burl Ives. Hobo Jungle is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Overall a nice softer song. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Cherry Blossom Song is the album’s biggest hit, I think. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is What I Want (I Can Never Have) because the melody in the chorus is so good. Nice and different song. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Burl Ives. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Hard Luck And Misery - arguably the best track on The Nashville Years, Vol. 4 album. Pearly Shells has a fun tempo. What Little Tears Are Made Of is one of the more up-tempo songs on The Nashville Years, Vol. 4. Short On Love is probably the highlight of the album. There is gorgeous mix of music in Who Done It?. Two Of The Usual which is my favorite is a truly Burl Ives sounding song. All of songs on The Nashville Years, Vol. 4 and have something to say letting alone Tell Me. Among My Souvenirs (2:43) - awsome. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in The Nashville Years, Vol. 4. The sound of I Ain’t Messing Nobody is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Once you hear Catfish Bill, you will listen to it over and over. Time To Bum Again is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Unemployment Check is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. In The Atlantic Coastal Line Burl Ives is at his best. Don’t Let Love Die make listening to Burl Ives like being in some sort of time warp. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Gater Hollow 1993 - a classic song.
