It’s natural for Burl Ives to take a stab at ‘Overture and a Holly Jolly Christmas’ considering her long-professed love for UB40. This is the first studio album from Burl Ives since bad diagnosis in 1995. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Listening to Jingle Jingle Jingle you can hear that Burl Ives has still amazing chemistry with band members. It’s such an underrated song. There’s Always Tomorrow (1:51) - awsome. We’re A Couple Of Misfits sets the tone for the entire album. A fantastic track full of wonder. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Holly Jolly Christmas is really the reason why I recommend buying Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. There is marvelous mix of music in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Finale). Christmas Medley: The Night Before Christmas Song/A Merry Merry … is astounding song though, very addictive. In Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer the music gets its power. There’s Always Tomorrow has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. This is probably my favorite song on the album. From the moment you listen to We’re A Couple Of Misfits you’re hooked. Silver And Gold is a great opener for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. When listening to We Are Santa’s Elves, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Most Wonderful Day Of The Year - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Holly Jolly Christmas is a bit different from Burl Ives stereotypical stuff. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Burl Ives.
