While no new Buddy Guy album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1994 tour in North America. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Buddy Guy on ‘7-11′. On Slippin’ In album, Buddy Guy have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Such great and happy songs.
This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Don’t Tell Me About The Blues is probably the highlight of the album. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Little Dab-A-Doo is simple, dignified and effective, Buddy Guy refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. After few listenings I started to like Man Of Many Words more and more. Please Don’t Drive Me Away is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Shame, Shame, Shame - A classic Buddy Guy track. Vocals of Buddy Guy in Someone Else Is Steppin’ In (Slippin’ Out, Slippin’ In) really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. I like the idea behind Trouble Blues.
