ten years ago, Brenda Lee briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Love Is Fair”. This album has some very good songs like Once Love Makes A Fool Of You and Love Is Fair. Self-described as Country with lots of words, Brenda Lee comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This album is a scorcher!
It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Music in Against My Will is gorgeous as in all tracks of Brenda Lee. Lonely Too Long gives taste of what makes Brenda Lee special as a musician. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Some Of These Days, which shows, blatantly, how much Brenda Lee has evolved as a singer. Strong, powerful vocals of Brenda Lee in You Better Do Better are very impressive. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Brenda Lee is When He Leaves You. It’s a great pleasure to listen to A Little Unfair from the beginning to the end. First time I heard Standing Tall was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Voice of Brenda Lee in Your One And Only is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant.
